Dohyo, Emelie and Hanna, all living in Sweden, are three of the leading musicians on their instruments in Scandinavia. Sharing a sense for profound discussions about everything from greater perspectives on life to the very essence of music making, the three musicians have during several years developed thoughts and ideas of how a musical collaboration could grow to something exceptional. Finally they decided it was time to make ideas come alive in the form of an Ensemble, based as much on their musicality as on friendship and joy.
Over the past years Dohyo, Emelie and Hanna have been playing together in many concerts in different formations. Lately they have increasingly been performing as Cordial Consort. Hanna is a viol player who loves to playfully explore sound and music of the viols full range - that means on all viol sizes. Dohyo is a lute player performing on the fascinating variety of different lute instruments, such as baroque- and renaissance lute, bandora, theorbo and in addition historical guitars. Emelies remarkably brilliant and warm recorder playing captives her listeners frequently.
Since the combination of viol, lute and recorder has found many charmed admirers through the ages, all from the renaissance until today, the three musicians intend to fully savor their sonic possibilities and share the result with the listeners. The huge variety of moods and atmospheres can be heard in their debut program „Melancholia“.
The trio’s aim is to combine personal storytelling with historically well informed interpretation in performance endeavoring to enchant their audience emotionally, by strings, breath and of heart, in accordance with their name - Cordial Consort.
Hanna began her musical education at the University of Arts Bremen in 2008, studying the viol with Prof. Hille Perl. After that she continued her studies of early music at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen with Susie Napper (master in 2014).
Since then Hanna has been working as a full-time freelance musician, and is in demand as a soloist, in chamber music contexts or as continuo player, mostly in Scandinavia and Germany.
Hanna has performed with groups like Concerto Copenhagen, Nordic Network for early Opera, Weser Renaissance Bremen, Sirius Viols, Göteborg Barock, Höör barockensemble and Copenhagen Soloists. She has played in festivals such as Copenhagen Renaissance Festival and Schützfest Dresden. She took part in several CD recordings and in Danish Radio broadcasts.
Dohyo Sol studied the lute at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Koninklijk Conservatorium in den Haag and the Royal Danish Academy of Music (master in 2009?). In 2008, he was the musical director for a semi-professionell staged production of Monteverdi´s L´Orfeo, performing in Ystad Operan och Alnarps lantbruksuniversitet.

He took part in several Opera productions at Malmö Opera, Vadstena Akademien, Ulriksdals slottsteater ”Confidencen” and Göteborgsoperan. He feels just as much home in orchestras as in smaller chamber groups as as a soloist. His repertoire ranges from early renaissance to contemporary improvisation.
